Is the Museum a 501 (C)(3) Corporation?

The Kansas City Automotive Museum is an IRS approved 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Every donor is given a written acknowledgment for their donation(s).

Where will my donation go?

Your donation will support the Collections and Educational Departments. The Curatorial Staff will determine where your donation will benefit the Museum most.

Will my donation be on exhibit?

While we intend to display every items donated to us, we cannot guarantee that it will be exhibited. In telling the story of Kansas City’s local automotive history, with limited display space, we can only show a percentage of what is donated. It is however available to anyone who is researching and would like a special tour of the archives.

Will I be notified if my donation goes on exhibit?

Yes, you will be notified by e-mail in the event your donation is displayed.

Will my donation be credited if it is placed on exhibit?

Donors can choose what their credit will read. For example. “Gift of Mr. John Smith” or “Donated in memory of John Smith”.

Can I see my items if they are not on display?

Donors are welcome to see their items if they are not displayed. Please call the Curatorial Staff to set up an appointment.

I am ready to donate, how do I start the process?

The first step is filling out our donation application. The Curatorial Staff will contact you soon after submission.

I don’t want to donate now, however I would like to donate in the future. Do I need to notify the Museum of my future gift?

We ask that if you intend to leave a future gift to the Museum that you notify us by filling out the Notice of Planned Gift form.
